September 2025 News + Updates:

Dear friends, family, colleagues + art-lovers:

As is often the case, this newsletter is long overdue! While I sincererly aim to issue them monthly, the reality is that my more time-sensitive work takes priority and newsletters just end up coming out...whenever.  For better or worse, social media is the best way to stay up-to-date. Follow me on Instagram @erica_harney_artist and Facebook: @Erica Harney, Artist for daily-ish postings!

Below are some exciting announcements, important information regarding custom ordering for the holidays, and upcoming events such as exhibitions, festivals, and the return of the Lansdowne Arts Committee's beloved Art Supply Swap!

*Imporant note: If you are considering ordering a custom watercolor painting as a gift between now and the end of December, please order ASAP as my availability will be limited this season due to other projects. More info below.*

Meanwhile, thank you for your continued interest and support!

OMG- I got a grant!

I'm excited to announce that I was awarded a modest (but not insignificant) unrestricted grant from the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance!! I am very honored and grateful to have received this award. Massive thanks to my husband Theo who was a TREMENDOUS help on my application.

*Limited availability* of custom watercolors through December!

When I first began painting custom house portraits in 2020, we were deep into the Pandemic  and I had almost unlimited time in my studio. It was....BLISSFUL.

These days however- ESPECIALLY at this time of year- my studio time is limited by other, larger projects (such as murals, operas, and parade scenery) as well as Life in General- meaning that I have exponentially less availability to accept commission requests between September and December than I did four or five years ago.

If you're considering ordering a custom watercolor painting as a special occasion or holiday gift, please order ASAP to reserve my time and to ensure on-time completion and delivery!

Considering a custom oil painting?

Gift certificates are available year-round!

It may be too late to have a custom oil painting completed in time for the December Holidays (an oil painting can take up to 6 months to complete, including drying time!) but you can order a personalized, printable Gift Certificate for a custom oil painting or watercolor ANY time!

Benefits to ordering a gift-certificate:

*It's a lot faster! I can typically generate your personalized, printable PDF the same or next business day.

*No reference photos are required to order a Gift Certificate! If you don't have the perfect photo of the gift recipient's home/pet/special place for me to work from, it's 100% not a problem!

*Giving a gift certificate allows the recipient to select and provide me with their own reference photo and thus participate in the creation of their painting!

*Gift certificates can be customizeable for any occasion: birthdays, holidays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, bereavements, or just because! Gift certificates can also be appreciated by individuals and families alike.

New mural in progress: Love Wins in Havertown, PA

Cooler temperatures means it's time for outdoor murals! As a general rule, I don't paint outdoors unless the temperatures are consistently between 55-85 degrees during the day.  In Greater Philadelphia, that's usually from about Daylight Savings Time into early June and then from late-August to about late October when daylight is limited. I am immensely grateful for the *literally perfect* weather we've been having over the past few weeks: it has made working on this project an absolute dream! Shout-out to my friends Mike Atwell and Lauren Rinaldi for their much-appreciated assistance. My friends are the best.

This mural, while currently in-progress at the time of writing, will probably be finished by the time you read this. Follow me on social media for photos! IG: @erica_harney_artist and FB: @ Erica Harney, Artist.

This mural is located in a residential neighborhood in Havertown, PA, near the intersection of Oakmont and Ralston Aves. Please be respectful when visiting.

I'm currently booking projects for 2026: Indoor murals can be scheduled for January-March and June-August. Outdoor murals can be scheduled for mid March-mid June and late August through late October. Regrettably, murals can NOT be scheduled for the months of November-December.

The 2025-26 opera season has begun (for me, anyway)!

Upcoming exhibition at the Main Line Art Center:

Opening Friday, September 12th

I'm exhibiting at the Main Line Art Center for the first time ever! I have three small oil paintings featured in "Little Luxuries," a group exhibition of small works.

"...Little Luxuries, curated by Fred Danzinger, aims to celebrate the intricacies and beauty found in the details of minute works of art. The exhibition serves as an introduction to art buying for collectors just beginning their journey and gives experienced collectors the opportunity to discover new and exciting artists. All works are sized 10x10" or smaller and priced under $350...."

Opening reception:  Main Line Art Center, 746 Panmure Rd., Haverford, PA

 Friday, September 12th from 6-8pm.

*Event is free but registration required at mainlineart.org*
