September 2024 News + Updates

Fall festivals + holiday preparations are in full swing!

Dear friends, family, colleagues + art-lovers:

I can't BELIEVE it's already almost the middle of September. It feels like just last week I was finishing up my log cabin mural in Virginia, but that's been done for over two months now.....

As I know that everyone is busy at this time of year, I wanted to send a very quick update on some of my recent and upcoming projects! I just finished up a very special Christmas display that I'd been working on for several weeks and am now getting ready for Fall Festival Season: I have upcoming events in Swarthmore PA as well as with the Lansdowne Arts Committee as part of Delco Arts Week. I'm also hoping I'll have time to squeeze in one last little mural for the year before transitioning into full-time Holiday Commission Mode! If you've been following me for a while, you may remember that last year I had to cut off holiday orders prematurely as I was offered an unexpected job opportunity in Spain last December. I'm planning to make up for lost time as the holiday orders have already started trickling in.... *If you're considering commissioning me to create a custom painting as a holiday or special occasion gift in the upcoming months, please order ASAP to ensure on-time completion and delivery. Prices and wait times will increase with demand the closer it gets to December! Scroll down for more infomation about commissioned paintings/custom orders.

Also in this newsletter: new work, new markdowns and more upcoming events.

Until the next newsletter, thank you as always for your continued interest!

If you're considering a custom painting as a gift for a birthday, holiday, wedding, anniversary, retirement, closing, or any other occasion, the sooner you order the better!

You can either order directly from my website (recommended if you're local to Greater Philadelphia and want to pick up your painting from my studio) or from my Etsy shop (recommended if you require shipping!).

New Paint Skin collages!

In 2020, I began a series of collages comprised mainly of dried paint leftover from my larger projects like murals or scenic displays.  Earlier this spring, I began going back into some of the remaining pieces in the series and adding new cut-paper collage elements, imposing a sense of order over an otherwise abstract scene. I haven't decided for sure, but I am strongly considering bringing at least few of these collages with me to the Fine Arts and Crafts Festival in Swarthmore, PA later this month but you'll just have to stop by and see for yourself! ;)

More like this can be seen on my website and shop!

Christmas is coming....

From the middle of July through early September I had been working on a very special Christmas display for a Philadelphia-area venue. I can't share too much more information about the project at this point, but if you follow me on Instagram and Facebook you can see some more behind-the-scenes and in-progress photos and videos. This project is temporarily finished until November, when I return to do some finishing touches.

I'll be able to share more information in the next newsletter, I hope. Meanwhile,

New markdowns on older work!

Out with the old, in with the new! Over the course of the summer I've been working on dropping prices on selected older paintings and watercolors to make space for new work! Also, my studio is an absolute disaster at the moment so I'm trying to clear out as much as possible for the sake of my own sanity ;P

Group exhibition in Seattle

Once in a great while I manage to eke out some time to dedicate to my personal studio practice. I like to make weird oil paintings out of scrap material leftover from my work as a scenic artist and muralist. This painting, End Days: Every Other Wednesday (from my series The World Without Us) was just exhibited at the Fishbowl Gallery in Seattle!

Lansdowne Arts Committee: Bodies in Motion to open at the 20*20 House Gallery

Aside from my own work, I am also a member of the Lansdowne Arts Committee (FKA Lansdowne Arts Board)! In the past I have helped to organize and install group shows in our various exhibition spaces.

Our next exhibition, Bodies in Motion will open on Saturday, September 21st with an opening reception on Friday, September 27th at the 20*20 House Gallery (20 Lansdowne Court, Lansdowne PA 19050)

Follow the Lansdowne Arts Committee for more info and updates!

What's next?

I'm hoping to knock out one more mural this year (on the drab little wall above)  before I return to finish up my Christmas display and before Holiday Commission Season takes over my studio! Not to sound like a broken record, but if you're considering giving a custom painting as a gift any time between now and December, *please* order ASAP to ensure on-time completion and delivery!

ALSO: If or your organization are considering a mural for your home or business, now is the time to start thinking about 2025. Let's chat!

September splendor!

I usually like to sign off by sharing something a bit more personal- usually pictures of my cat Rufus or my flowers. September is one of the best and brightest times of year in my garden AND the mosquitoes are starting to die off! Thank goodness, I've lost enough blood this summer ;)

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!
